Conceptualized by Entrepreneur Chris Miles, founder and president of Miles Technologies, A Step Toward Hope first captivated South Jersey in June 2005. Begun as an annual gala to raise money for the paralysis cause, A Step Toward Hope thrived and became a standalone 501-C3 charity in early 2007.

Mission Statement
A Step Toward Hope's mission is to provide assistance—financial and otherwise—to those suffering with paralysis and other neurological disorders in the southern New Jersey and surrounding areas, and to raise funds for research that aims to discover new treatments and cures for paralysis.
